- "Englische Version":
- “S-Split up?!”
Awe, come on, Shito. Don’t look at me like that.
“What d-do you mean, Levy? I- I-“
“I mean that we’re going into an underwater cave where I would prefer you’d stay away from,” I explain him nonchalantly. And it’s really as simple as that.
That and… the pictures of the Charmander’s smoking tail during the last rain-shower are still burned into my mind.
“But we’ve always gone on missions together! I…” he stops dead in his tracks before he looks at me – scornfully now, “What am I supposed to do during that time?!”
Well at least that’s some progress.
“You can do me a favor and take the rookies to the forest. How about that?”
For a moment he continues to stare. Then his gaze avoids me and not with just little disappointment and a pair of sagged shoulders he accepts my request.
“Well, fine…”
“Thank you, Shito.”
“Rookies.”
As Shito leaves, Dawn walks up to me with that unusually mocking tune.
“I’m just worried about him, why can’t he see that?”
“Why not tell him?”
“…I thought I did.”
The Absol stays quiet and looks up at the sky. It’s beginning to dusk. How ironic.
“Shito lives for the adventure.” He starts again. I can’t tell if he’s looking at me now or still at the sky because I don’t dare to look at his face, “You are both the heads of Team Rainbow. When will you let him make his own decisions?”
I sigh. There’s a twitch in my shoulder and I force myself meet his eyes. Looking at Dawn is hard, because I know the Absol is right.
“What am I supposed to do?”
“Talk to him.”
A forced smile crosses my lips.
“When you say it, it always sounds so easy.”
Now it is the Absol’s turn to look at me, and his gaze makes me shudder. Without a word he sits down.
“What makes it so hard, Levy?”
And I stand up and head for the Turnip.
For the rest of the evening I keep lying on my hay and I contemplate Dawn’s words. Something about them really stings in my chest and makes me wish for him to make it undone, to take them back.
Of course he’s right, but… can’t he be considerate? Just ONCE?
But he thinks about Shito.
I cover myself up with the leaf on my head as I hear footsteps approaching. A little peek shows me that it is the Charmander that’s paying me a visit.
“Good Evening, Levy.”
Go away.
“The Rookies are doing great!”
Are you doing that on purpose?
“I don’t think they reeeeaaaally need me.”
Oh, please.
“Levy?”
…
“Levy, please say something.”
…
“A- Are you mad?“
Is it me, or is his voice cracking?
“There is more to it, isn’t it?”
What?!
“To that Spli-”
“No!”
And here I stand, as tall as I can be, defiant stance, hard glare… and the Charmander look as if he’s about to fall apart here and there.
Is he… trembling?
My gaze darts off to look at a spot on the wall. Huh, how come I never noticed this one before?
So many thoughts rush through my head. What am I supposed to say now? He’s expecting an explanation.
There are several answers I would favor right now…
Go back to your room and lock the door.
Don’t eat sugar, that’s bad for your teeth.
Don’t touch fire, it’s hot.
Don’t jump into water, you’ll drown.
…
Drown…
A sigh escapes my throat. Dawn is right, I treat him like a child.
“What do you want to do?”
Shito looks up at me with a curious glint in his eyes. Probably didn’t expect that, huh?
Honestly, I’m still not very fond of this idea, but… if I don’t do it now, then Dawn will kill me eventually.
And I don’t want that.
“Chozi made something for me.”
Chozi made something for him – uh-oh. I can see where this is going.
“Wha- What did she make?”
And without a word Shito swings around, waving his tail in my face. Reflexively I jump a step back. Occasionally I think he forget that I am a Plant-Pokémon. Occasionally I think he forgets a lot about the type-advantages. Why else would he want to go to that cave?
I carefully lift the shielding leaf again, and what I see is neither hot, nor is it fire. No, what I see is an… utmost strange club around his tail-tip.
“What is that?” I ask him, utter disbelief creeping into my voice.
Shito proudly sways the tail around, “This,” he says “is Chozi’s invention.”
He pulls his tail back to examine it a bit closer himself, “I don’t quite know what it is, but it’ll shield my flame from the water.”
…Apparently!
Wait a second, you DID get my drift!
“Oh, Shito, that’s…”
I still don’t trust that thing though… I still don’t…
“That’s great!” I force out of myself.
“I know, right?!”
He seems so excited.
I stand and stare at the construction. It looks… like a stone. But it has cracks here and there. For equipping it, I presume. And there’s a vine tied around it that’s holding the creation together.
I’m… not quite sure if this will actually work. Hopefully the little plant will not go up in flames.
That’s when Shito’s voice starts up again and when I look back up at him, I can see that he’s fidgeting.
“I know you just worry about me with all the water and all but… That’s why we go together, right? You wouldn’t let me down.”
In the next instance I find myself pressed against his belly and the leaf of my head tightly wrapping around his torso.
You’re an idiot, Shito.
Such an idiot.
And the idiot rubs my shoulders comfortingly.
Before I know it, we are taking these very big steps through the giant connected puddles of the underwater cave. Big steps you ask?
Well, Keru the Electrike is close behind us and seemingly happy to electrocute every step that we take.
Type Advantage.
Yeah, Right.
- "Deutsche Version":
- „T-Trennen?!“
Ach, komm schon, Shito. Guck mich nicht so an.
„Wa- Was meinst du, Levy? I- Ich…“
„Gut; was soll ich so lange machen?!“
„Was macht es denn so schwer, Levy?“
Oh bitte!
„Levy?“
…
“Levy, bitte sag was.”
…
Was?!
„Hinter der… Tren-“
„Nein!“
Was… soll ich denn jetzt sagen?
“Was willst du denn machen?”
Shito blickt mich entgeistert an. Tja, damit hast du wohl nicht gerechnet, was?
Ganz ehrlich?
Stein. Hier und da sind ein paar Risse. Höchstwahrscheinlich um das… Ding an seiner Spitze anzubringen.
Typen Vorteil.
Pah!
